Getting Engaged & Unecessary Pressure

I feel like I’ve taken a much more lax view to blogging lately. I’m enjoying sharing little snippets here and there and working with brands that I enjoy and want to share. I thought I’d check in with a little life update and to share these photos I took earlier this week.

We’ve been in our new house for 8 weeks now and it’s slowly coming together. We can’t decorate just yet with it being a new build, but we’re enjoying choosing colour schemes for each room and having already got all of our furniture, we only need to buy the little things aka lampshades, curtains, rugs etc. The best bits essentially!

I love having fresh flowers in the house and our bay window in the lounge is the perfect spot for a large bouquet of blooms. The lovely people over at Appleyard London got in touch recently asking if I’d like to receive one of their Purity bouquets,   I was more than happy to oblige and work with the brand.

I’ve been torn on what to do with the bay window as it’s such a fantastic feature of the house, I want to do it justice. I’m in the process of trying to persuade Darren to get shutter blinds…

It’s also been 9 weeks since we got engaged. I can’t believe how fast time has gone, not that anything has changed! I have felt an increase in people asking when we plan to get married if we’ve looked at venues, etc. I get that’s the usual questions to ask and most brides-to-be must be itching to get a venue booked and plan their big day.

But I feel the complete opposite.

Of course, I can’t wait for Darren and I to be married and to be his wife. But I was as little fuss as possible. The idea of a huge wedding makes me want to run for the hills and whilst I’m excited to choose the flowers and my dress, I was it to be a small intimate affair.

We hadn’t discussed getting married before getting engaged. He’d always been against it, clearly, something changed. But, it will be a long engagement and I’m happy about that. I mean, I’m sure a 35-year mortgage is a lot more tying these days anyway!
